J&K: Women's Pencak Silat League 2023 organised under Khelo India mission in Srinagar

Srinagar, August 28 (ANI): A two-day Pencak Silat League was held in Srinagar under the Khelo India mission. The league was organized by the JK Sports Council under the sports week. The league provided a platform for women practitioners to demonstrate their expertise and compete against each other. The girls participated in the league with great enthusiasm. The league consisted of Pencak Silat game of self-defence techniques and artistic movements. “The Pencak Silat league is organized under the Khelo India Mission by the Hon’ble Prime Minister and our Sports Minister. This is a very good opportunity for the young girls of Kashmir to showcase their skills and go to higher levels of competition. This will also lead all the girls away from drugs and anti-social elements,” said Md. Iqbal, manager of Sports Council, Indoor Stadium, Kashmir. “This game is very important for any woman. This sport teaches self-defence to girls and gives us an opportunity to show we can be better than boys. This league, where only girls can participate, has given us many opportunities. Every girl from Srinagar and Kashmir should participate in this league,” said one of the enthusiastic players.
