PoK situation escalates! Security forces launch crackdown on demonstrators in Lahore

Lahore (Pakistan), August 1 (ANI): Police detained several protesters during a rally outside the Lahore Press Club on July 31, where demonstrators gathered to condemn violence and express solidarity with activists in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The "Kashmir Solidarity Demonstration" was held in support of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) and was organised by progressive groups, student unions and labour organisations. The protest followed deadly unrest linked to regional elections in PoK, with tensions continuing over allegations of political interference and economic neglect. According to Reuters, police dispersed the gathering and took multiple demonstrators into custody.
