Udhampur (J&K), May 28 (ANI): The Basht area of Chenani tehsil of Udhampur district in Jammu and Kashmir is boasting a bumper crop of high-quality apricots, due to combination of favourable weather and innovative farming techniques.
This year's apricot abundance is partly attributed to new varieties and farming techniques introduced by the Department of Horticulture under Government of India schemes. This not only means a delightful bounty for consumers but also a promising financial return for the dedicated farmers of the region. These initiatives have empowered farmers like Rattan Kumar, who owns an apricot orchard in Basht.
Rattan Kumar, a seasoned farmer who cultivates fruits, vegetables, and traditional crops, expressed his delight at the exceptional quality and quantity of the apricot harvest. He acknowledged the initial concerns about the weather and is thrilled to see his trees laden with vibrant apricots. He even extended his gratitude to the government for their beneficial schemes that support farmers and contribute to such fruitful outcomes.
