Mr. Trump explained the bruise on his arm, saying he didn't fall asleep during the meeting

Jan 02, 2026

Washington [US], January 2: US President Donald Trump blamed aspirin for the widespread bruising on his hands, and also denied ever falling asleep during public meetings.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal published on January 1st, President Trump offered explanations aimed at demonstrating that his health remains good.
He explained that his hands often bruise because he takes aspirin daily to thin his blood. "I don't want my heart to have to pump thick blood," the U.S. President told The Wall Street Journal .
The White House occupant also changed his earlier statement confirming he had an MRI in October 2025, saying that he only had a CT scan, which takes less time.
Mr. Trump also assured the American newspaper that "my health is excellent," and expressed his dislike of the public constantly scrutinizing his physical condition.
According to AFP, over the years, Trump has consistently sought to cultivate a powerful political image through frequent interactions with the press, constant social media posts, and AI-generated memes portraying him as a superhero.
However, the first year of his second term in the White House saw much speculation about the leader's health.
For example, Trump's right hand was frequently bruised, and was often covered with thick makeup and sometimes with bandages. His ankles also showed signs of swelling.
At times, Trump was seen struggling to keep his eyes open, including during a televised meeting in the Oval Office with health officials in November 2025. Meanwhile, President Trump once nicknamed his predecessor Joe Biden "the sleepyhead."
On this issue, Mr. Trump strongly refuted the idea that he dozed off in public. "I'm not a heavy sleeper," he said, adding that the moments when he looked sleepy were actually just moments when he closed his eyes to relax.
The leader rarely exercises except for playing golf, and for many years has made no secret of his fondness for fast food, which is high in salt and fat.
