Canada confirms 17,325 new COVID-19 cases in one week

Ottawa [Canada], September 24: Canada confirmed 17,325 new COVID-19 cases for the week ending Sept. 17, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) said on Friday.
The number of total COVID-19 cases and deaths in Canada reached 4,233,468 and 44,992 respectively, according to the weekly update issued by the PHAC.
The daily positive rate during the week averaged at 10.1 percent, and daily tests per 100,000 people were 62.
The Canadian government is expected to get rid of COVID-19 border restrictions at the end of this month with the expiry of a cabinet order affecting mandatory vaccinations, testing and quarantine of international travelers, local media reported.
Meanwhile, ArriveCan, an app to input international travelers' vaccine status and test results, will become an optional tool for customs and immigration, according to the reports.
